FAQ

GTL applications

We welcome questions from our visitors. If you have a specific question regarding EAJV’s GTL, LNG or hydrogen technologies which is not covered below, send it to info@eajv.ca.
What is the smallest GTL plant that EAJV can supply ?
1,000 barrels/day.
What is the largest GTL plant that EAJV can supply ?

20,000 barrels/day.

Is a 1,000 barrels per day economically viable ?

Yes, only if the feedstock gas is inexpensive.

Which products can be obtained from an EAJV GTL plant ?

Standard product mix is 5% LPG, 20% Naphtha and 75% Diesel. This product mix can be changed at the plant design stage to produce other product mix such as jet fuel, waxes etc.

How much gas is required to justify a GTL plant ?
A minimum of 300,000 Nm3/day (12.2 MMscfd) is required for a period of 15 years to justify a GTL plant.
Is GTL technology complicated ?

Yes, it includes three major islands which each has several subsystems.

Is the technology mature and reliable ?

Yes, each major process island has a solid track record and their integration into a single GTL plant has been done for years now.

LNG applications

What is the largest skid mounted LNG plant that EAJV can supply ?
200,000 Nm3/day (8.14 MMscfd)
What is the smallest skid mounted LNG plant that EAJV can supply ?

30,000 Nm3/day (1.22 MMscfd)

Which LNG technologies are available from EAJV ?

Single cycle mixed refrigerant (MRC), nitrogen expansion, high pressure gas expansion.

Which LNG technology supplied by EAJV is the most energy efficient ?

MRC.

Is MRC technology more expensive than the other two ?

No, MRC and nitrogen expansion are similar in price.

Why customers would consider technologies other than MRC ?
In certain countries, procuring the refrigerant is either not possible or unreliable.
Which is the simplest LNG technology to operate and maintain ?

High pressure gas expansion.

Which are the disadvantages of the high pressure gas expansion LNG technology ?

It is slightly more capital intensive than the other two (MRC and nitrogen expansion) and it consumes more electricity.

How much natural gas reserve is needed to justify an LNG plant ?

EAJV’s small LNG plants are skid mounted and can be relocated to a different source of natural gas after a few years of operation. Small LNG plants are defined as having a capacity of 30,000 to 100,000 Nm3/day of feed gas.
